Volunteer Opportunities

High School Service Hours

High school students looking to volunteer can apply to complete service hours in the Makerspace. Students will be expected to commit to at least one day a week between 3:00pm - 6:00pm. This is a great way to complete required service hours, gain useful job experience, and develop critical new skills. Duties will include:

  • Cleaning and organizing the Makerspace
  • Helping assemble curriculum and projects
  • Providing support for younger students
  • Assisting with Workshops and/or STEAM Lab
  • Assisting with social media posts
  • Other administrative tasks

Makerspace Volunteers

Parents looking to volunteer in the Makerspace can apply to assist our Master Makers in leading STEAM Labs and Daily Build Activities. Volunteers will be expected to commit to at least a 4-hour shift one day a week between 10:00am - 6:00pm Monday - Friday. This is a great way to give back to the community, share your unique experiences, and help students develop critical new skills. 


All volunteers over the age of 18 must pay for and receive favorable results from a DOJ/FBI Background Check (Live Scan) and a TB Test (tuberculous). 


Duties will include:

  • Helping manage and organizing the Makerspace
  • Assisting with curriculum development and assembly
  • Providing support and supervision to Makerspace atendees
  • Assisting with Workshops and/or STEAM Labs
  • Assisting with social media posts
  • Other administrative tasks

Workshop Instructor

Homeroom Education is currently seeking Workshop Leaders for the Makerspace. Workshop Leaders design and lead Workshops that highlight specific skills, projects, experiments, or crafts. Workshop Leaders will be expected to commit to at least one, 2-hour Workshop per month between 10:00am - 6:00pm Monday - Friday and one, 2-hour workshops between 10:00am - 3:00pm Saturday - Sunday per month; though scheduling additional workshops are encouraged. This is a great way to share with our community your unique experiences, skills, and talents while getting paid to teach your passion!


While Homeroom Education is open to a wide variety of skills sets, we are particularly interested in applicants with experience in:

  • Michanical engineering
  • Electrical engineering
  • Fine art
  • Crafting
  • 3D Printing
  • Woodworking
  • Robotics
  • Sewing

Homeroom Education is currently seeking Master Makers for the Makerspace. Master Makers help manage and oversee the Makerspace at Homeroom Education including designing projects and builds that highlight specific skills, topics, experiments, or crafts. Master Makers will be expected to commit to at least one, 4-hour shift per week between 10:00am - 6:00pm Monday - Friday or one, 4-hour shift between 10:00am - 3:00pm Saturday - Sunday per week; though scheduling additional shifts is encouraged. This is a great way to share with our community your unique experiences, skills, and talents while getting paid to teach your passion!

Faculty Needs

Instructors

Homeroom Education is currently seeking Instructors for our academic classes in the Learning Studio. Instructors design and lead academic classes that highlight specific subjects, areas of interest, skills, or topics. Instructors are expected to commit to at one, 12-week class that meets 2-hour per week. Classes at Homeroom Education are scheduled in the Fall and Spring terms on Mondays - Fridays between 10:00am - 12:00pm and 12:30pm - 2:30pm. However, many Instructors choose to offer multiple classes each term. 


Becoming an Instructor with Homeroom Education is a great way to share with our community your unique experiences, skills, and talents while getting paid to teach your passion! Workshop Leaders will be expected to commit to at least one, 2-hour Workshop per month between 10:00am - 6:00pm Monday - Friday and one, 2-hour workshops between 10:00am - 3:00pm Saturday - Sunday per month; though scheduling additional workshops are encouraged. This is a great way to share with our community your unique experiences, skills, and talents while getting paid to teach your passion!
